The Story of Essential Radiance
I first became intrigued with the idea
of making my own candles while on vacation
in Maui with my husband. We were shopping
and discovered an adorable shop in which the
owner was selling candles that he had made
himself. The seed was planted. Later that
same year I read a magazine article that touted
the health benefits of soy candles over traditional
paraffin wax candles. The article explained
that soy candles burn cleaner than paraffin
wax candles and produce virtually no harmful
or damaging soot. They also burn cooler, allowing
the fragrance to scent the air more rapidly
and actually burn longer than most paraffin
candles. Soy is biodegradable, environmentally
sensitive, water soluble and "clean-up"
with soap and water. Essential Radiance was
born.
I was able to incorporate my degree in Marketing
and my 11-year career in sales and marketing,
primarily in the wireless industry, into my
new "hobby." My background has allowed
me to grow the business fairly rapidly, albeit
part-time. My love of interacting with people
has also helped, both in my formal career,
as well as with my growing side business.
I started out very small, just doing an occasional
home party or craft fair. But it was at these
very places that I was able to convey both
my passion and my conviction for my product.
The interest in the candles was overwhelming.
I received testimonials from many people,
even those already aware of soy candles expressed
that my candles were superior to anything
they had tried before. In addition to being
made with 100% soy wax, Essential Radiance
candles never use lead wicks, are custom made
in small batches and are hand poured to ensure
quality and freshness. The quality of a handmade
product is so much greater than one that is
mass-produced. I am in constant touch with
my customers and continually incorporate their
feedback into the business.
What intrigues me the most about my company
is that it provides serenity, beauty, ambiance,
and a sense of peacefulness to my customers.
Candles, by their very nature, are extremely
beautiful and provocative. And by combining
the benefits of soy wax and premium essential
oils and fragrance oils, I knew the product
would have a loyal following.
Essential Radiance candles can be found at
several area retailers, at many artisan fairs,
and at home parties. The candles can be customized,
such as wax color and labels, for events such
as party and shower favors. They are also
available for fundraising events.
The basic philosophy of Essential Radiance
is to create a sense of peace and calmness.
With all the craziness in the world today,
we all need to find ways to find solace in
our lives and there is no better way than
to relax under the warm glow and healing scents
of an Essential Radiance candle.
